Be Still and Know
Sometimes, the loudest way God speaks is in the quiet.
In the chaos of life—when you’re rushing, striving, and pulled in a thousand directions—stillness feels unnatural. But what might it look like for you to simply pause today?
Start with just five minutes.
Put your phone away. Step outside. Sit alone on a park bench or in your car with no distractions. Let your soul breathe.
One of the surprising things about stillness is that you begin to hear God more clearly. You were made for relationship with Him, and when you quiet the noise, His voice often becomes unmistakable.
Scripture is full of stories shaped by stillness:
- Jesus in the wilderness
- The Israelites learning dependence on God
- Moses meeting God on the mountain
- David tending sheep and later hiding from Saul
David’s reflections in solitude birthed many of the Psalms we still pray today. Psalm 16 is a beautiful place to start—it’s a reminder of God’s presence, safety, and joy for those who seek Him.
So, what does stillness look like in your life right now? Could you make space today to simply stop, be with God, and listen?
